Muwasat Association is a community mutual aid program for Canadian Muslim families. When a loss occurs, our members pool their support to cover funeral and burial costs — up to $10,000 CAD per case.
Muwasat is a voluntary community mutual aid program — not an insurance plan.

Muwasat Association was founded in March 2021 and is a registered Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporation (Corp. No. 1517448-1, incorporated in Ontario). We serve the Canadian Muslim community as a member-funded mutual aid program: members pay a one-time $200 CAD registration fee and $50 CAD when a covered death occurs, which is charged automatically to their payment method on file. Muwasat then provides up to $10,000 CAD per case toward funeral and burial costs, for deaths that occur in Canada or the United States.

In the Greater Toronto Area, Muwasat works with established licensed Islamic funeral providers so families receive dignified service in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Outside the GTA — and for member families in the United States — the family arranges services with their nearest mosque or licensed funeral provider and submits invoices to Muwasat. Approved invoices are reimbursed by cheque, up to the $10,000 CAD limit. For deaths in the United States, families may choose either repatriation to Canada or burial in the US.
Muwasat volunteers help organize the janazah prayer logistics and condolence gathering for member families. Volunteers handle administrative and logistical support only; the funeral partner handles the body and clinical services.
