Policy Amendment No. 1 Is Now in Effect
Amendment No. 1 to the Muwasat Policy and Membership Agreement is effective October 1, 2026. It updates where covered funeral support is available, how per-event contributions are collected, and the conditions that apply to visiting parents.
- Canada and United States coverage: Covered deaths may occur in Canada or the United States. For a death in the United States, the family may choose repatriation to Canada or burial in the United States, subject to the $10,000 CAD limit.
- Automatic contributions: Every member must maintain a valid payment method on file. When a covered death occurs, Muwasat automatically charges the $50 CAD contribution and emails a receipt after a successful charge.
- Visiting parents: Members must notify Muwasat before a visiting parent arrives, including the length of the visit. The parent must stay with the member under their direct responsibility.
