A clear, dignified path from the first call to the final accounting.

When a member or covered family member passes away, the family contacts Muwasat immediately by calling one of our two death-notification mobile numbers:
+1 (647) 540-0050+1 (905) 966-2912The Board verifies the membership, confirms that the deceased is a registered dependent or principal member, and confirms the family is in good standing under the Policy and Membership Agreement.
(a) For deaths in Canada:
In the Greater Toronto Area, Muwasat coordinates directly with a trusted Islamic funeral partner and pays the partner directly, up to the $10,000 CAD coverage limit. Elsewhere in Canada, the bereaved family arranges service with the nearest mosque or licensed funeral provider, submits invoices to Muwasat, and receives reimbursement for approved invoices up to the $10,000 CAD limit.
(b) For deaths in the United States:
The family may choose either repatriation of the deceased to Canada for burial or burial in the United States. The $10,000 CAD coverage limit applies to either option. The family submits invoices to Muwasat and reimbursement is issued in Canadian dollars.

Muwasat notifies all active members in good standing that a covered death has occurred and automatically charges the $50 CAD contribution to each member's payment method on file. No separate action is required from members each time. Members receive an email receipt after a successful charge. These contributions replenish the funds disbursed and ensure the program remains sustainable for the next case.
Muwasat volunteers help the family organize the janazah prayer logistics and the condolence gathering — communications, seating, hospitality, and administrative coordination. Muwasat volunteers do NOT handle the deceased, perform Ghusl, or transport remains; those services are provided by our licensed Islamic funeral partners. Volunteer support is offered with respect for the family's wishes and traditions.

If the total funeral cost for a case is less than $10,000 CAD, any excess collected for that case is donated by Muwasat toward the construction of new masajid in Canada, as Sadaqah Jariyah. Members do not retain any individual claim to excess funds once funeral expenses are covered. The Board publishes an annual summary of contributions collected, funerals supported, and amounts donated to masjid construction.
