Who We Are
Muwasat Association Community Support Group was established in March 2021 by members of the Canadian Muslim community. We are a registered Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporation (Corp. No. 1517448-1) incorporated in the Province of Ontario, and a member-funded mutual aid program. When a member or their covered family member passes away, we pool the community's resources to ease the financial burden of funeral and burial costs.
Muwasat is not an insurance plan, not a funeral home, and not a registered charity. We are a community of members supporting one another, in the spirit of Sadaqah Jariyah.

A Canadian Muslim community in which no family carries the weight of loss alone, and where every contribution serves both the bereaved and the broader Ummah.
How Muwasat is Funded
Muwasat is funded entirely by its members. There is a one-time $200 CAD registration fee to join, and an additional $50 CAD per-event contribution payable whenever a covered death occurs within the membership. No donations from outside the membership are solicited or required, and Muwasat does not issue tax receipts. Surplus funds remaining after a funeral case is covered are directed by Muwasat toward the construction of new masajid in Canada.
Our Board
Muwasat is governed by a volunteer Board of Administrators. The Board approves membership applications, oversees the financial integrity of the program, and makes decisions on benefit disbursements and exceptions under the Policy and Membership Agreement.

Legal Status
Muwasat Association Community Support Group is a registered Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporation (Corp. No. 1517448-1) incorporated in the Province of Ontario. It is NOT a registered charity, and member contributions are NOT tax-deductible. The program is a voluntary community mutual aid arrangement and is NOT an insurance plan. All membership, contributions, and benefits are governed by the Muwasat Policy and Membership Agreement (effective June 15, 2025).
